Croydon Council’s offices open to the public this Saturday as part of Open House London weekend, which celebrates buildings and spaces in the capital.
Hourly tours of Bernard Weatherill House are being held from 8am to noon. Places are allocated on a first-come basis.
Ruskin Square offers the rare opportunity during the Open House weekend to witness a live site under construction, giving visitors an insight into how Croydon is changing.
This will be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday with hourly tours starting at noon.
A walking tour of central Croydon is also taking place on the Saturday giving visitors the chance to see some of the key projects that make up the Connected Croydon programme.
Those wishing to go on the walk should meet at East Croydon’s main entrance on George Street at 2pm.
In addition, guided tours of the Croydon Town Hall and Clocktower Complex take place on Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
Access to the Town Hall is by timed tour only at 10am, 11am, noon and 1pm. Tours last 45 minutes.
More than 700 buildings and spaces will be opening their doors this weekend for Open House London.
Other Croydon buildings taking part include Airport House, Fairfield Halls, Old Palace, Shirley Windmill, St Bernard’s Houses, The Stanley Halls, Thornton Heath Library, Whitehorse Manor Schools and the Whitgift Almshouses.

“But for all the talk about the future, this is also a chance to celebrate Croydon’s heritage, and there’s plenty of opportunity to do that this weekend.
“There is a lot happening outside the town centre too, for example Stanley Halls in South Norwood and Airport House.
“For some of the sites, you’ll need to book in advance, so I recommend you visit the Open House London website beforehand.”
