Croydon Council is proposing to close the leisure centre in Purley that has been losing money and has rising multi-million-pound repair costs.

Croydon Council will hold an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Monday (11 October) following yesterday’s governance referendum in which the majority voted for the council to have a directly elected mayor. 

When I became leader last year, I promised to open up the council and give residents a stronger voice.
