National Employability Day: See you at the fair

Local employers from industries as diverse as construction, aviation and law enforcement will be talent-spotting at the National Employability Day jobs fair in the town centre on Friday 29 June, organised by the council’s jobs brokerage Croydon Works.

Organised jointly with the London Learning Consortium, the event runs from 10am-2pm at the Jury’s Inn on Wellesley Road, and will bring together large employers like Gatwick Airport, care providers Highfield House and Caremark, construction firm Vinci, and Surrey Police.

Mock video interviews will offer visitors an opportunity to review their own performance on screen, and interactive workshops will be held where attendees can get help with employability skills, health and housing support. Other sessions include:

10.15am – 11.15am    Careers planning for the active jobseeker

11.45am – 12.45pm    CV preparation and application forms

1.00pm – 2.00pm        Interview preparation

“Skills and opportunities are at the heart of making Croydon an attractive place for businesses to thrive, and for growth to flourish. I encourage anyone who’s looking for a change of direction to attend the fair and see what’s on offer.”

Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed, cabinet member for economy and jobs
