SMEs invited to enter Croydon Business Excellence Awards

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Croydon have just two weeks left to enter this year’s Croydon Business Excellence Awards.

Croydon Council is the proud sponsor of the Best SME Award, which is open to all businesses in the borough with a current turnover of up to £15m. The award recognises the crucial role SME businesses play in growing and sustaining our local economy.

Earlier this year, the council set up a Small Business Commission to explore how it could further support local businesses to become more successful. The commissioners have met with local SMEs and business groups to find out what helps and hinders their economic growth, an interim report showcasing their findings will be available soon for local businesses to view and feed in to. The final report will be available in September.

The Best SME Award is just one of 15 categories at the annual business awards, which is free to enter. Other award categories include Apprentice Employer of the Year, Tech Innovation of the Year and Women in Business.

Winners will be announced at a glittering black-tie gala dinner and charity ball at the luxurious Grand Sapphire hotel, Imperial Way, on Thursday 5 October.
