The Department for Education (DfE) has this week published the commissioner Eleanor Brazil’s report and the ministerial direction in relation to children’s services in Croydon.
We welcome the commissioner’s recognition of our recent progress and her confidence in our improvement plans, which mean Croydon will continue to run its own children’s services. We are at the beginning of our improvement journey and we have a long way to go, but it’s good to hear we are on the right track and we can get on with the job.
As part of our improvement journey, we will benefit from peer support from our local government partners at Camden Council, who will provide support to our front line social care staff and help to add pace to delivering in our priority areas as set out in our Improvement Plan. We look forward to working with them.
