Tackling antisocial behaviour in New Addington

Croydon is to continue to provide funding for a police officer to help stop crime and antisocial behaviour in New Addington.

The three-year contract will be renewed for a further year from April, with the officer continuing to help strengthen the three-strong Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) of two police officers and a police community support officer (PCSO).

The council and police have an agreement whereby the council pays for one officer and the police match funds a second.

The second officer will be based in Fieldway, also making this a four-strong team.

Councillor Hamida Ali, cabinet member for communities, safety and justice

“Having additional officers in New Addington and Fieldway shows our commitment to tackling crime and antisocial behaviour in this area.

“We are keen to build on the work already done to tackle antisocial behaviour, and to make the area safer and more secure.

“The funding deal also means there will be greater capacity to focus on local problems such as illegal motorbike riding, shoplifting and drugs, and to build and improve relationships with local community.”
