Even more outdoor entertainment will be on offer on Croydon’s High Street this summer as Street Live returns for the second successive year.
Returning on 9 June, Street Live will offer live music, dance and theatre, making High Street, which was permanently made as a pedestrian zone in April, an area that will offer something for all the family over three months.
This year’s programme, organised by Croydon Council and Croydon Business Improvement District (BID), will see Apsara Arts – Croydon Cultural Dance open Street Live, and will be followed by BRIT School presents, a series of live performances, which adds High Street to its town centre entertainment for the first time. On 17 August there will a BMX exhibition, with riders performing amazing and exhilarating tricks.
Wimbledon Live also returns, showing all the tennis action on a big screen over the two-week tournament at the beginning of July. Towards the end of the month, there will be the chance for families to get competitive with crazy golf on 20 and 21 July.
There will also be entertainers from Covent Garden wowing crowds and for the first time, the beach will be coming to the High Street – giving people the opportunity to enjoy the seaside, without having to get in the car or jump on the train.
Creative arts company Scanners Inc are also returning and there will be busking on alternative Fridays between 5pm and 8pm, starting on 14 June.
