Training for businesses to help keep children and vulnerable adults safe

Businesses across Croydon are being urged to find out how they can help keep children and vulnerable adults safe from harm or abuse by signing up for free training for their staff.

The Triple C Partnership – made up of Croydon Council, Croydon Safeguarding Children Board (CSCB) and Crystal Palace Football Club (CPFC) – is inviting local business leaders to register now for an information event at CPFC in March 2018.  Open to all employers based and working in Croydon, or who have staff living locally, the event will be an opportunity to learn how they can play an important role in safeguarding through accessing free online training for their employees.

“Safeguarding issues are relevant to all businesses and organisations, even those who do not have a statutory obligation, or work directly with children or vulnerable adults. Many of them will still have contact with these people and they can play an important role in helping to keep them safe.

“Ultimately, being aware of safeguarding issues heightens everyone’s ability to spot it and stop it. More importantly, it encourages a culture where people talk to children to expose some of the taboo around safeguarding issues. This helps to make children more resilient, more likely to question inappropriate behaviour and more equipped to make the right choices for themselves.”

Formed in July, The Triple C Partnership aims to combine the skills, expertise, networking and business links of all three organisations to raise awareness of safeguarding issues and improve standards across the borough.

It encourages businesses to access free online safeguarding training for their employees, including more than 30 individual courses on a range of topics from child sexual exploitation to cyberbullying.

Since the launch event in July, nearly 300 people have signed up for just over 3,000 courses – with one local construction firm also pledging to sign up all 600 employees for the online safeguarding course.

This week Triple C announced the winner of their competition to design a logo for the partnership. Marques White, 13, (pictured) beat off stiff competition from other entrants after his design was chosen, winning two tickets to see CFPC v Watford on Tuesday night.
