Croydon welcomes John Lewis to town centre as part of £1.4bn retail development

Croydon Council has welcomed a commitment by the John Lewis Partnership to be an anchor in the £1.4bn redevelopment of The Whitgift Shopping Centre. The retail giant today (31 May) confirmed that they will open a new 165,000 sq ft, four-level John Lewis department store with a Waitrose supermarket on the ground floor in Croydon’s new world-class retail and leisure centre.

Litterers prosecuted in court

Croydon Council has now successfully prosecuted 198 fly-tippers or litterers as part of its Don't Mess With Croydon clampdown after the latest case on Tuesday.

Croydon’s new cabinet announced

The Leader of Croydon Council has announced cabinet appointments and responsibilities following the May 2018 local election. The new structure is due to be ratified at tonight’s Full Council meeting – the first since the election.

Work is now under way on the Taberner House site to bring hundreds of affordable homes to Croydon’s town centre

Construction work started this week at the former Taberner House site, bringing closer to reality a stunning new development which will provide hundreds of new homes in Croydon’s town centre. Formerly home to the council offices, the site will provide 513 homes within four buildings, with a mix of affordable, for sale and rental units, as well as new public realm, a children’s play space and a new café. At least 40 per cent of the units will be designated as affordable.
