Mayor Perry – listening to Croydon

The devastating discovery of human remains in Rowdown Fields has shocked our whole community. We are supporting the police in their investigations and local residents, who are understandably very concerned. I would urge anyone with any information to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 using the reference number 01/167803/24.

Easter holiday clubs

With the Easter holidays under way, it’s great that children and young people across Croydon can enjoy a fantastic range of holiday clubs, offering fun activities and healthy meals. With government Holiday, Activities & Food (HAF) funding, we’ve worked with 63 organisations to provide children in receipt of free school meals with free sessions which include healthy meals. From creative crafts to sports camps; there is a huge variety on offer with clubs catering for ages 4-16. For information visit our webpages. I hope this helps all our children, young people and families have a great Easter break.

Playground improvements

There was more good news for families with the opening of new playgrounds at Canterbury Road and Whitehorse Road recreation grounds this week. This is part of a series of investments to improve our parks, making them cleaner, safer and more attractive. We’ve listened to our communities about what is important to them in their local green spaces, and worked with them to create some fantastic new spaces I hope everyone will enjoy.

Autism Acceptance Week

To mark World Autism Acceptance Week, we were proud to raise the flag over Croydon Town Hall and show our support for residents with autism. Across our borough, there are many organisations doing excellent work to support people with autism and raise awareness of the challenges they face. However, there is much more that we can all do in our daily lives to tackle discrimination and break down barriers. For local information, help and support visit our webpages.

Finally, as Ramadan comes to an end on Tuesday, warmest wishes to everyone celebrating Eid al Fitr.

Jason Perry
