A play street is being set up to celebrate and encourage people to take part in a world-wide initiative to leave their car at home.
On Saturday 22 September Croydon High Street will become a play street, open to any children who want to join in and mark World Car Free Day.
The drop-in event between 1.30pm-4.30pm mirrors other play streets – which allow families to have fun on temporarily closed roads.
The day of action promotes other means of transport and allows residents to see their communities with fewer vehicles on the road.
Play streets across the borough allow communities to temporarily close suitable roads, giving children and neighbours a space to enjoy and an opportunity to make new friendships.
Anyone attending the High Street event is invited to bring games or activities. Children should be supervised at all times.
Other play street events in the borough include Love Lane, which won the Play Street of the Year award for London in 2016 and 2017, and Brampton Road.
