Ceremony pays respect to emergency services

A flag commemorating the emergency services will be flown outside Croydon Town Hall to mark the first ever Emergency Services Day.

The annual event celebrates the one million people who work in the emergency services and their contributions to communities across the country.

Croydon will fly the flag from the flagpole on Katharine Street at 9am on Sunday, the ninth day of the ninth month.

“We are tremendously grateful for all the work done by emergency services every day of the year.

“They offer help and support when it is needed most and often at times of crisis.

“We will continue to do anything we can to support the emergency services in their vital role.”

Councillor Tony Newman, leader of the council

Members of the public are welcome to join the flag raising ceremony, which gets underway at 9am.
