Croydon Celebrates Foster Care Fortnight 2022

During Foster Care Fortnight (9 – 22 May) Croydon will be shining a light on the many ways people across the fostering community support our foster carers.

In line with this year’s theme, ‘fostering communities’, over the course of the fortnight, we will be sharing stories on the council’s social media channels, highlighting the fabulous  support networks surrounding Croydon’s foster carers.

Foster Care Fortnight is the UK’s biggest foster care awareness raising campaign, delivered by leading fostering charity, The Fostering Network.

Now, more than ever, there is a need for more foster carers. Croydon Council is  actively seeking people from all walks of life who can offer a safe and stable home life to children and young people who can’t live with their birth families. We particularly need foster carers for older children, sibling groups and children with disabilities.

Throughout the fortnight, Croydon’s team will be out and about in the community, talking to residents about the need for foster carers.  If you are interested in caring for young people, come and talk to us from 10am – 3pm at one of the events below:

South Norwood Market – Saturday 14th May

Waddon Leisure Centre – Monday 16th May

Angel, a foster care leaver said, “Being in foster care can be quite a challenge for anyone, myself included. But, having the right people around me to offer support is important not just for the young person but for their carer as well. I’m grateful to the council and its network of partners for the community of support that was there for me when I needed it.”

If you think becoming a foster carer for is the right path for you, contact a member of our team by visiting Croydon’s fostering website.
