Residents living in Shrublands are being offered the chance to work on some of the borough’s biggest construction projects.
Croydon Works – the jobs brokerage service set up by the council – is hosting a free, month-long construction pathway course for Shrublands residents as part of a new recruitment initiative being rolled out across different areas of the borough.
The programme will include an information day with a construction industry professional, supported job searches for roles with the council’s major construction partners such as Willmott Dixon, Brick by Brick, Lend Lease and Mulalley, and employability support including writing a CV, interview techniques and wider careers advice.
Attendees will also work towards obtaining a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) certificate, which will enable them to apply for a CSCS card. The card provides proof that an individual working on a construction site has the required training and qualification for the type of work they are carrying out.
Four registration events will take place at Shrublands Advice and Coffee shop on Broom Road, between 3pm and 5pm on the following dates:
