Free taster sessions are to be hosted online to help Croydon residents, who may have lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic, explore and develop new skills to help them get into work.
Croydon Adult Learning & Training (CALAT), the borough’s adult education hub, and Croydon Works, the council’s free jobs, training and recruitment service, have partnered together and will deliver five one-hour courses to help people sharpen or develop their employability skills.
The online-learning classes, which each have a different focus, will begin at 11am every day and will run for an hour.
The sessions are as follows:
- Monday 11 May – CV building and interview skills
- Tuesday 12 May – Manual handling – health and safety
- Wednesday 13 May – Customer service
- Thursday 14 May – Digital skills
- Friday 15 May – Staying well during the Covid-19 pandemic
Each session is open to applicants aged 19 or over and residents can enrol in one or multiple classes by contacting Croydon Works, but places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
“This is a fantastic example of two council services coming together to offer all residents, but in particular those who may now find themselves out of work as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, free employability and job support.
