Nearly two thirds of new secondary school pupils in Croydon have been offered a place at their preferred school this year.
Despite more applications being submitted this year 63% of applicants, 2,976 pupils, were offered a space at their preferred school. Last year 62% of applicants, 2,854 pupils, were offered a space at their most preferred school.
In total 85% of applicants have been offered a space at one of their top three schools.
With the largest population of young people in London, Croydon processes more school applications than any other London borough.
Careful planning by the council meant every pupil applying on time was offered a secondary school place. For the third year running, 100% of Croydon’s applicants applied online.
