Croydon Council has appointed Nick Hibberd as its new corporate director of sustainable communities, regeneration & economic recovery.
The corporate director role is responsible for one of the council’s key portfolios, directly impacting on the lives of every Croydon resident. Services which fall under this crucial role span across regeneration, planning, transport, waste and recycling, community safety and enforcement, culture, museums and libraries.
The role will oversee the regeneration of Croydon as it continues to grow as an exciting borough with increasing draw. As one of London’s largest boroughs and commercial hubs, Croydon is poised for real sustainable economic growth.
Nick’s appointment also coincides with Croydon’s upcoming tenure as London Borough of Culture 2023.
Nick has strong track record in local government and in his previous role served as Executive Director of Economy, Environment and Culture at Brighton & Hove City Council since 2016. In this role he was instrumental to city centre regeneration as well as showcasing the cultural wealth the city has to offer, both of which are core aims for Croydon’s corporate director brief.
In his almost 30-year career at Brighton & Hove City Council, he successfully delivered across a range of housing, development, and regeneration roles. He now brings this genuine commitment to public sector excellence with him as he picks up his new role at Croydon.
