Residents to help shape new housing repairs service

Croydon Council will be working with residents to help shape a new housing repairs service when the council’s contract with Axis, their responsive housing repairs provider, comes to an end next year.

Following discussions with Axis, their eight year partnership will now end in 2023.

Until 2023, Axis will continue to carry out repairs on behalf of the council and contribute to its joint housing improvement programme. Both parties remain committed to working together to make sure council tenants do not experience any gaps in service during the transition period.

The council continues to review how it delivers housing services as part of an overarching strategy to raise standards across the board. An important part of this has been listening to tenants’ experiences of the service they receive, and the council has carried out extensive engagement including going door-to-door, roadshows, and through the council’s Tenant and Leaseholder Panel and the Housing Improvement Board. Residents will now also be invited to get involved in helping to shape the council’s contract with its new repairs provider, to ensure that they are at the heart of the service. Council tenants who would like to get involved can email residentinvolvement@croydon.gov.uk

“Croydon is at the start of a wide-reaching housing improvement journey and we are determined to make a positive difference to the service we deliver for all our council tenants.

“We want the housing services we provide to match our tenants need and priorities. By listening to our tenants we will ensure any future repairs contract will prioritise the aspects of the service they identify as most important.”
