Statement on Finsbury Park Mosque attack

Joint statement on the Finsbury Park Mosque attack from Council Leader Tony Newman and Croydon Borough Commander Jeff Boothe

“Our thoughts are with the man who died and those injured in the terrible attack outside a mosque in Finsbury Park this morning and with the families and friends of those affected. We’d like to thank our emergency services who responded quickly and remain working at the scene.

“We cannot allow acts such as this to stop us from carrying on with our lives. Police, neighbourhood safety officers and the council’s communities team are already out visiting mosques to reassure and support the Muslim community here in Croydon.

“We can all do our bit to help keep each other safe. Please remain calm and vigilant and report any suspected terrorist activity to the police anti-terror hotline on 0800 789 321. Alternatively, to give information anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org
