Croydon celebrates Foster Care Fortnight 2024

To celebrate Foster Care Fortnight, Croydon Council is holding a series of events to encourage more people to consider becoming foster carers.

Residents are invited to find out about the benefits of becoming a foster carer in Croydon which includes professional training, competitive fees of up to £604 a week per child, and round-the-clock support.

Anyone with a spare bedroom who could consider opening their home to care for a child or young person is encouraged to join one of the online and in-person events to discover how they can make a difference.

  • Wednesday 22 May from 2-6pm, Selsdon Library, 130 Addington Road, South Croydon CR2 8LA

Croydon needs more foster carers to help support children who can’t live with their own families. The council is looking for people from all backgrounds with a wide range of life, work and care experiences.

Jason Perry Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon, said: “Anyone with the capacity to care for someone can be a foster carer and our fostering team provides fantastic support and benefits to foster carers.

“We need more people to come forward and become foster carers in Croydon. I encourage anyone who could offer a safe space to a child or young person to contact our team, ask any questions you may have, and find out how to start your fostering journey.”
