More residents can take part in the Council’s free accredited course and learn skills that will help them to better support people they know who have experienced trauma.

New course dates have been released for the trauma-informed training course. Anyone living or working in Croydon can attend and learn how to spot signs of trauma in others and how it might impact on their behaviour.

The training also explores the effects of trauma on the wider community and goes through some of the coping strategies people use when they face traumatic events. Participants will also find out where they can signpost people for further help if they need it.

People can sign up here for online or in-person sessions during April, May and June this year.

Supporting residents’ mental health and wellbeing is a key priority of Executive Mayor Jason Perry, and the borough’s Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

“Hundreds of residents have already benefited from taking part in our free trauma-informed training course. We hope that more people will sign up to the course which will give them more confidence to help those experiencing trauma. Offering people the right support at the right time can make a real difference to their lives.”
