Funding boost for voluntary food aid organisations to help those most in need

Food banks and other voluntary food aid organisations can apply to the council now for grants to help families and individuals who are struggling this winter.

Croydon Council is distributing over £140,000 in government funding to voluntary organisations that assist households most in need with food, energy, water bills, and essentials such as sanitary products.

The funding is aimed at non-profit organisations that help people to pay for basic living costs, such as food banks, one-stop shops, FareShare distributors and hygiene banks. Eligible organisations can apply for a one-off payment of up to £5,000 to help support families and individuals in need.

To apply, download and complete the application form here, and email it back to communitygrants@croydon.gov.uk. The closing date to apply for the funding is 31 January 2021.

“Winter is an incredibly difficult time of the year for those struggling to make ends meet, and the pandemic has exacerbated this.

“A growing number of our residents are struggling to pay their basic living costs and we want to get these grants out to our local voluntary organisations who are helping those hardest hit, to access food and other household essentials.

“If you are eligible for this funding, please come forward and apply. This one-off payment could help your organisation support many more families and individuals across Croydon this winter.”
