By-elections in May

Voters in five Croydon wards will be electing a new councillor on 6 May 2021.

Croydon Council has today published a Notice of Election for five councillor vacancies in the wards of New Addington North, Woodside, South Norwood, Kenley, and Park Hill & Whitgift.

Voting will take place at polling stations in the wards during the usual polling hours of 7am to 10pm on 6 May. Electors should receive their by-election poll card by 21 April. Croydon voters will receive a separate polling card for the GLA elections that are also happening on 6 May.

Residents living in the New Addington North, Woodside, South Norwood, Kenley, and Park Hill & Whitgift wards who are British, eligible Commonwealth, Irish or European Union citizens, and aged 18 or over on 6 May, will be able to vote at these by-elections, but only if they are registered to vote and this is done by midnight on 19 April.

The council is urging anyone who lives in one of these wards, is eligible to vote but is not on the electoral register to sign up here.

The deadline for applying to vote by post in these by-elections is 5pm on 20 April. All postal votes should be dispatched to electors who have arranged to vote by post by 28 April. Residents who have registered in time to have a postal vote will receive separate postal vote packs for the GLA elections and by-elections.

To be able to vote by proxy, you need to apply by 5pm on 27 April.

For more information on the by-elections, including how to obtain a nomination pack to stand as a candidate, and other information on voting by post or proxy, visit the council’s website.
