Get set for a summer of fun with Croydon holiday clubs

Croydon’s holiday activity and food clubs are now open for booking – helping to support children and families over the summer.

From 24 July to 25 August, children and young people can enjoy a huge range of exciting activities and a healthy meal at 67 clubs across the borough.

These clubs are there to support families in need, while offering young people new opportunities and experiences.

These clubs are funded by the Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food programme and delivered by the council working in partnership with local providers.

Families in receipt of free school meals will be eligible for free places and will receive a unique code from their child’s school, that grants them access to the dedicated booking portal. This will allow them to secure their spots at their sessions of choice.

In addition, the council will be hosting a summer programme for all young people aged 8 to 16, run by the youth engagement team. Taking place 1-18 August at the Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Centre, this programme includes a wide range of activities including sports, arts and crafts, gaming, and much more.

From 22–25 August, the council is offering a special week of activities called Primary to Secondary School Transition Week. This is designed for young people aged 10-11 and will focus on building confidence and dealing with the anxiety that young people face when moving from Year 6 to Year 7.

The Summer Reading Challenge returns on 8 July with the theme of “ready, set, read”. This year’s challenge is all about sports and games. For more information, visit your local library.
