Croydon Council is calling for applications from community groups to access funding, to support young people at risk of becoming involved in violence and antisocial behaviour and help them stay safe.

Local organisations can bid for grants to deliver targeted activities for young people in three priority areas – Croydon town centre, New Addington and Shrublands.

The funding is for groups that have a trusted relationship with local communities and a strong track record in helping to improve young people’s lives.

When elected in May 2022, Executive Mayor Jason Perry pledged to make Croydon a cleaner, healthier and safer place to live. Since then, the council has been working with partners to curb antisocial behaviour and help residents feel safer on the streets.

The council will continue to work with its community partners to deliver outreach sessions that will intervene with young people who are most vulnerable to offending and criminal exploitation, with a particular focus on working with women and girls at risk.

To apply for Safer Streets funding, please email your request for an application form to: safercroydonadmin@croydon.gov.uk

The council will be hosting a virtual session for groups interested in applying for the funding, and this will be advertised shortly.

“Since I was elected Executive Mayor, I have been committed to making Croydon a safer, healthier place to live for everyone. Together with our partners, we are working to make our streets and town centre spaces safer and to tackle violence against women and girls.

“Funding is an important way for our partners and community groups to help vulnerable people get the support they need and I would encourage their applications”.

Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon
